    Post approval

Hello again, everyone at FGP. A matter has come to my attention that is probably going to figure in this community prominently--it is, of course, post approval.

Right now, any posts we make get sent to the moderators for review before they are shown to the world. This is an effective way to keep content against the rules from cropping up, but as the community grows, it may become stifling to the development of these forums. One of the staff members on here I knew previously on another forum which started with a boom because its topic was so popular; however, it had post approval at first, too, and the early months of the forums' life were depicted as the dreaded "snail posting" era. When the post approval was taken away, the community grew at an astounding rate, and has been pretty stable ever since.

So, I've simply been wondering: when do you think post approval will be deactivated, if at all?

    Thanks,
    --Klorpateb

I'm familiar with forums that have gone that way. Slow until the posting approval is taken away.

Removing post approval is something that's been discussed, considered, but there's a lot of things to take into consideration! One is certainly spam. With approval, we're able to keep the spammers at bay.

I'll certainly make sure this topic is brought up to the powers that be again and see if maybe we can get some thoughts.

Yep--you basically turn the tables from buffing it up beforehand and keeping it slow to letting it all come in and mopping up afterwards. Both are time-consuming, but the latter is usually more efficient, however letting spam around and more. It's a pretty difficult decision, and while the community is still small, it's probably a good idea.

    Kudos, and thanks.
